THE SCURRAN CIRCULAR

Saturday October 8th  - Medium

This is a glorious circular walk which really gives you a feel for the Central Highlands – their remoteness, their spectacular scenery, their history and wildlife.  The route climbs above the Sma’ Glen, once a droving road and one of General Wade’s military roads and one of the most famous passes in Scotland. With any luck you will able to spot buzzards flying – below you.  From the former Foulford Inn the route climbs the southern shoulder of the Scurran and on along the ridge towards Glen Almond.  Heading down to the bealach the route then turn south towards the start either via Fendoch burn or Meall Tarsuinn.

BIRDS AND BRUTUS AT BRACO

Thursday October 13th  - Medium

A fascinating low level walk starting from the impressive Roman Fort at Ardoch.  Here there is dramatic evidence of a series of enormous marching camps and of a large fort from the Antonine period of occupation.  The walk continues around the Upper and Lower Rhynd Lochs which are rich in wildfowl.  It is a paradise for birdwatchers. The walk is across open ground, mostly on paths and with superb views of the Ochil Hills.
